RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK
This is good, old fashioned, down home, family cooking offered by this huge chain in Canada. It's not a five star restaurant but it doesn't pretend to be.
Here you'll find a decent variety of entrées to choose from and most of them are quite good and tasty. For starters we usually order two for the table to share -- Perogies and their version of Buffalo wings.
My favorite main course on most every visit is the Rotisserie chicken. It's always dependable and is pleasantly seasoned. My wife varies her selections but she enjoys the barbecued ribs. They also offer a chicken and rib combo. Salad eaters will find a nice selection ranging from the classic Caesar to something called an Oriental Chicken Salad. We've never tried any salad other than a small Caesar or garden salad to go with our main meal.
If you fancy sandwiches they offer several of the usual suspects including burgers, chicken sandwiches, wraps, and a veggie burger for non-meat eaters.
This is a favorite place for families to gather so if you have kids or grandkids, you'll feel right at home here as the little fellows propel their food! And you'll find a very friendly wait staff.
Sorry about the lack of pictures! I'll shoot some and add them to the site the next time we dine here.
As mentioned, this is a huge Canadian chain with branches from coast to coast and I now see that they have a couple of U.S. locations, too. The location we have frequented the most over the years is at 4450 Walker Road in Windsor, Ontario just across the river from Detroit. Phone number is (519) 250-7106. The Swiss Chalet web site is here.
