RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK
This interesting concept is located in the same building with the Hyatt Regency Airport Hotel at Incheon Airport, a suburb of Seoul.
The concept was to put 8 different kitchens together in a large dining area and let folks pick and choose which kind of cuisine that sounded good to them. The kitchens are out in the open so that diners could see their food being prepared.
Among the cuisines found there were Korean (of course, you're in Korea), Japanese, Italian and several more.
We just happened to dine here on a Friday night when they offered a special buffet for, as I recall, about $45,000 Korean won or about $45. Bump that up to $65,000K ($65 U.S.) and it included all the red or white wine you wanted.
The food was pretty good. We sampled everything from Korean barbecue to roast prime rib of beef to various pastas, pizzas, salads and of course desserts.
All in all this was a very pleasant experience. And if you're staying at the Hyatt Regency there at the airport, it makes sense to eat here. I get the impression that many locals hit this place, too. Most of the people eating here appeared to be Koreans.
Restaurant 8 is located in the beautiful Hyatt Regency Incheon Airport Hotel, one of the best airport hotels in the world, in our estimation.
The hotel's web site along with restaurant information is here although interestingly, while it does mention some hotel restaurants, it does not mention Restaurant 8. Wonder what's up with that?
I don't know how long this link will remain viable, but the Seoul Times did a piece on "8" in October of 2006 and you'll find it here.
