RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK PICKLED ONION This is the first place we hit while shopping in Hamilton, the main city in Bermuda. Friends had recommended it to us.
Here you can dine inside or outside overlooking the busy port of Hamilton. During our visit there was always a cruise ship in port and from the balcony of the restaurant you could literally throw a rock and hit the ship. It's that close!
Our visit occurred during the busy lunch hour but even with a big cruise ship in port there was no waiting time and we got our choice of whether to dine inside or outside. There didn't appear to be any air conditioning so we chose an outside table where a nice breeze was blowing.
We started out our lunch with an order of deep fried calamari. It was extremely good served with plenty of tartar sauce. I had to try their version of Bermuda fish chowder (always laced with hot sherry pepper sauce and black rum) and it was very good. For my main course I chose fish and chips. It was a good size portion but hard to navigate with the fish on top of the French fries. Trying to break pieces off with my fork was difficult but the fish was nonetheless good. Not great but good. My wife got the same thing and had the same trouble eating the fish. Overall we were pleased with this dining experience. Tab without alcohol came to $62. To check out their web site, to here.
