RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK
We had passed by this place several times on the way to Jacksonville's airport and always wondered what it would be like. It's right on the main road leading to the airport. It looked good from the outside.
One time while arriving early to pick up a friend, we decided to give it a shot. The menu was extensive and raved about their aged steaks. There were many other things on the menu, too, including some good looking pasta dishes.
We arrived at about five and the place was practically empty. Our server was a delightful young woman and she got us started off with an order of fried calamari. It was quite good and served with a tasty dipping sauce.
I chose the large cut of prime rib, the 16 ounce cut and I ordered it "very rare." It came to the table with a huge onion ring on top. A salad was also served along with a loaded baked potato. My wife wasn't in the mood for a steak. After all, we were at a steak joint, of course! Gotta love her! She went with a cheesy and delicious looking ravioli.
My prime rib was not very good. I hate to say it but it was tough and "oddly" cooked. It looked almost as if it had been sliced raw, micro waved a bit and then thrown on a grill. My wife's pasta, on the other hand, was very, very good and there was a lot of it. Overall I was disappointed because the menu promised meat greatness and I simply didn't get it.
They have two restaurants. This one and one in Georgia. Their web site is here.
