RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK
A PERSONAL REVIEW OF RESTAURANTS AROUND THE WORLD

JOE T. GARCIA'S
FT. WORTH, TEXAS

This is one of the best known Mexican restaurants in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex in Texas.  Is it the best Mexican place in town? Probably not. But it does offer up some good down-home Mexican cooking. And a big part of the reason you go here is for the tradition.  The place has been around since the 1930s.

From the minute you enter this humble establishment in a less than spectacular neighborhood, you'll feel the longevity of the place.  Look around and you'll notice that the clientele is largely of Hispanic descent. That's a good indicator that you've found a genuine ethnic establishment.

Joe T.'s offers up the usual Tex-Mex favorites including nachos, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, tamales, chili rellenos, and on and on.  Nothing fancy by any means, just good, solid, traditional vittles.

Most people we know get the family style dinner which includes an appetizer, cheese enchiladas, tacos, guacamole, and the obligatory rice and beans.

You might come away from your Joe T.'s experience thinking that you've had better Mexican food at some point in the past but you'll enjoy living a little bit of history.  But bring cash.  Joe T.'s doesn't take plastic.

Joe T. Garcia's is located at 2201 North Commerce in Ft. Worth.  Their phone number is (817) 626-4356.  Their web site is located here.
