RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK GARFUNKEL'S We had seen this chain of restaurants several times during our visits to London and the U.K. but didn't actually dine at one until I was passing through Heathrow Airport on a quick weekend trip. I was ravenous for breakfast and Garfunkel's was lookin' good at the crowded British Airways Terminal-4! These aren't fancy places at all. But they serve good food and are reasonably priced. The server was helpful and I explained that I might "linger" a little during the meal because I got to the airport way ahead of schedule. She couldn't have been any nicer and kept the hot coffee coming. I chose the traditional English breakfast and it was quite tasty. All the "usual suspects" showed up on the plate including eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, a broiled tomato and hash browns. All for under five pounds. During the rest of the day they offer sandwiches, salads, pizza, ribs, fish -- you name it. You'll find these restaurants in airport terminals at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted in the London area and also in airports in Manchester and Glasgow. A few others are located in the U.K. And if you'd like a beer or glass of wine with your meal, they'll be more than happy to accommodate you. Their web site is located here.
