RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK
You can't get any closer to the Atlantic Ocean than at this place in this part of Florida. It sits right out over the water with splendid views.
Our visit came on a Sunday afternoon around noon. The place wasn't very full. Those who were there appeared, for the most part, to be tourists visiting this charming slice of "old Florida."
I chose the special seafood platter and my wife ordered a burger. My special said it came with clam chowder. Initially it came with no starter because our air headed server forgot. When I got my main course and no soup, I asked her about it and she said she had forgotten about it and promised to bring it.
As I started on the main course the server returned with a cup of chicken and rice soup. Chicken and rice? What happened to the clam chowder? The waitress said it was a mistake on the dry-erase board at the entrance to the restaurant. Now wouldn't you think they'd just bring me a cup of clam chowder and not argue over what the dry-erase board said? And it did say clam chowder.
Anyway, my seafood platter was okay. Some shrimp, scallops and fish. My wife's burger was okay.
Bottom line is this. If you're looking to get "up close and personal" with the Ocean, this is a good choice. Ditto if you just want to drop in for a cup of coffee. But for much, much better seafood, head just down the street and across the street to the Fisherman's Net. There you'll find very good and fresh seafood from the market in the rear of the building that houses the restaurant!
You'll find the Pier Restaurant right next to the Pier in Flagler Beach. Technically they're at 215 South A1A. Their phone number is (386) 439-38921. And watch your speed. The Flagler Beach Police Department lets very little go unnoticed!
