CLEVER DICK'S PUB
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND

This is a fun little place not far from Edinburgh Castle and we happened upon it entirely by accident and there's a funny story here.

On our first trip to Edinburgh years ago, members of our family couldn't agree on what to do on day one.  My wife and son visited the castle, my daughter and her husband chose to go shopping and I decided to just take a leisurely stroll through this beautiful city.  I saw a place called Dirty Dick's and dropped in for a pint.  I caught a glimpse of my daughter and her husband walking by the place, flagged them down, and we enjoyed a few more pints.

Fast forward to the current review.  My wife and I were walking down from the castle when it started to spit rain.  So we ducked into the nearest pub we could find.  We were astonished to find out that it was called Clever Dick's and it's one of three in the "Dick" family.  Actually the third one is not a "Dick" but is called the Bad Ass.

While we can't vouch for the food at Clever Dick's (my wife only munched on some fries) the beer was great, the atmosphere was nice and all the servers were just super.  We did, however, talk with some fellow Yanks visiting from the states and they said their food was quite good.  We also noticed that most of the people dining and drinking at Clever Dick's were locals and not tourists.

It's worth a visit if for nothing else a nice pint or two.
