RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK
A PERSONAL REVIEW OF RESTAURANTS AROUND THE WORLD

CARLOS O'KELLY'S
FT. WAYNE, INDIANA

If you're cruising along I-69 on the southern fringe of Ft. Wayne and you feel like stopping for Mexican, this isn't a bad option.

We hit this place on a Friday afternoon around 2 and it was pretty empty.

Since we were driving on this trip we passed on drinks and just ordered a round of diet pops and feasted on the obligatory chips and salsa which nearly every Mexican restaurant on Earth provides.

As for food my daughter and I both went with a combo platter that featured a taco, burrito, and two enchiladas (cheese & onion and beef).  My wife got a luncheon special consisting of a couple of beef enchiladas, rice and beans.  The grub was good.  Our son-in-law chose a spinach and cheese enchilada platter and said it was good.  Our three grandchildren ordered a taco each but didn't eat much.

The food on a scale of 1-10 was probably a 7.  Not bad but not sensational, either.  It ain't no Pappasito's in Dallas, that's for sure!

Our server had her hands full, God Bless her!  She was busy cleaning food that the kids had heaved and provided the little guys with plenty of crayons and coloring books.  She was really good constantly refilling our chips and salsa bowls.  However she and most other employees here appeared to be alien as in from another planet.  I don't know how to put my finger on it but everybody at the table agreed!

There are two of these chain restaurants in Ft. Wayne.  Our dining experience came at the one on Falls Drive where it intersects with I-69.

They have a web site here.
