RESTAURANT OF THE WEEK
This is a place we discovered by accident while taking a rare trip by car. We were en route to Niagara Falls, Ontario when we stopped at a Pizza Hunt for a quick lunch. Our grandkids were hungry! Just down the street from the Pizza Hut was a cute little seafood restaurant called Archie's. We made a mental note to try it on the way back and I'm glad we did.
Three of the four adult diners chose regular fish and chips consisting of a large piece of haddock, traditional fries and coleslaw . I was extra hungry and went with the "jumbo pollock dinner." It came with four large pieces of fish, fries and slaw.
The fish was battered heavily--and I say that in a positive way--and deep fried to a golden perfection. Everybody enjoyed their meal. The kids wound up throwing most of their grilled cheese sandwich on the floor or at other diners. They've got a pretty good arm on 'em!
For dessert our daughter had a piece of fresh baked coconut cream pie and it was wonderful. My wife had some sort of chocolate cheesecake and it was also super. I know because I pilfered a bite when she wasn't looking!
The restaurant was packed with locals and if you're ever in the area, we'd highly recommend the place.
It's my understanding that there are three of
'em in town. We dined at the one on Wellington Road just off of the 401.
Take the Wellington Road exit and go toward the Pizza Hut. It's just past
the Pizza Hut on the left or opposite side of the street.
