SNAPSHOTS OF GGANTIJA, GOZO, MALTA
This and other temples in Malta afford a view into the oldest buildings on earth.  Ggantija predates the giant pyramids of Egypt by up to 1,000 years!  Life in these buildings goes as far back as 3,600 B.C.!  Imagine what it must have been like back then!

This temple complex is located on Gozo, a small island that is roughly 7 by 9 miles wide.  The name Ggantija means "giantess" and these are the largest of the megalithic temples found in Malta.

This complex faces the southeast and both have five semi-circular niches inside. 

You can view a pillar with a snake carved in it at the Archeological Museum in Gozo's capital city of Victoria.

A small admission price is charged and restrooms are available at the site.
