We cannot speak highly enough of our guide Esteban from his new company Buenos Aires Private Tours! He's a very nice man who knows and loves his city of Buenos Aires.
You'll always find him him casually attired which is exactly what we were hoping for. Shirt, shorts and sneakers. Perfect.
You can suggest places for Esteban to take you or just let him lead the way. We gave him an idea of what we had hoped to accomplish while there and above and beyond that asked for his guidance.
Prior to even agreeing to use his service, he was kind enough to provide references and the e-mails of people who had used his services in the past. I e-mailed two people and got back glowing reviews. I knew this was going to be a great service and that if we got Esteban, we would be lucky!
Esteban took care of securing our ferry tickets to Montevideo before we even flew down to B.A. He took us to the best shopping areas and pointed out the stores that had the best quality merchandise and at the fairest prices. He made us dinner reservations and took us to some of his favorite places -- places we would have missed as outsiders.
We had a bit of a dilemma our last day in B.A. Check out at the Hilton was 12 noon yet our plane didn't depart B.A. for Atlanta until 10:45pm. I asked Esteban if he could pick us up at the Hilton at noon and take us up to the delta of the Rio de la Plato for a visit to the interesting city of Tigre and then deposit us at the airport around 7 for our flight home. We just kept the luggage in the trunk of the car and it worked out perfectly. A great way to spend our final day in B.A.
As others have said about Esteban, you leave knowing that you've made a friend and vice versa.
BA Private Tours is not at all expensive. They charge for a full day what most other services in Europe charge for one hour! And when you consider the personal experience that somebody like Esteban has picked up over the years, it's an incredible value.
