PRESIDENTIAL OFFICE BUILDING
BUENOS AIRES
Each weekday when he's in town, Argentina's leader flies from his home about 30 kilometers away in a helicopter landing two blocks from this complex.  He then walks with citizens in tow to his office here.
Madonna actually appeared on a balcony of this building while filming her Evita movie in B.A.  Ironically as they filmed the shots, there were two small groups of protesters.  One that didn't think Madonna should have gotten the starring role as Evita.  The others were pro Madonna protesting the protestors.  But the protests did not interfere with the movie shoot.

Argentineans love to protest and as we visited, one was forming in this shot.  It's hard to see but the protestors were across the street in front of the black building on the left.  Cops with orange vests gathered just to the right to keep them in check.

The "Dirty War' in the 70s and 80s may have claimed 30,000 lives.  Every Thursday, women who lost sons gather here and they paint white bandanas on the bricks as a symbol of their protest.  You can read more about the tragic events of the Dirty War here.
